Amare Global Explains the Link Between Your Diet and Your Mental Wellness

It’s not advisable to put diesel fuel in vehicles that run on gasoline. Doing so would ruin the engine, and have disastrous consequences to the vehicle. Amare Global likens this to putting the wrong kind of fuel to your body: if you don’t eat right, then your diet—which acts as our body’s fuel—can become detrimental to your health.

Many physicians have determined that what you eat has a significant impact on your overall health. In fact, by eating the right things, you may find that your mental health has improved, particularly when it comes to your moods, emotions, and struggles with anxiety and depression.

Here are some of the things that you should munch on:

1. Fruits and vegetables to help fight depression
There are definite mental health benefits to diets that involve less processed and refined food, says Amare Global. A randomized trial determined that participants who partook of a Mediterranean-style diet in three weeks experienced a significant drop in depression symptoms. Other studies continued to prove that people with diets with more fruits and vegetables showed considerable improvements in their depression symptoms as well.

2. Get a dose of omega-3 fatty acids and probiotics
If that name seems familiar, it may be because it’s been touted as the most significant health benefit to eating salmon and tomatoes. Many studies have pointed out how omega-3 fatty acids play a role in suicide prevention. Also, food rich in probiotics, such as legumes and whole grains, can experience relief from stress and anxiety. Amare Global encourages consumption of these food products not just for their heart-healthy benefits, but for their mental health benefits as well.*

3. Eat the rainbow to support normal inflammatory levels
Certain studies have found a correlation between depression symptoms and inflammation in the body. By eating a rainbow diet—vibrant colors like peppers, blueberries, sweet potatoes, kale, and tomatoes—that prevents inflammation, you can significantly improve your mental health. They also facilitate the growth of new brain cells through our adult years.
Our food is just as important to our minds’ health as it is for the health of our bodies. Discover what else Amare Global recommends to maintain the best mental health possible.

Amare Global on the benefits of yoga for mental health

Amare Global, also known as The Mental Wellness Company for its unique nutraceutical products that aim to improve many aspects of mental wellness, promotes yoga not only as an effective way to get a leaner physique but also for its benefits to mental health. The practice can promote psychological and emotional healing and help resolve issues with self-confidence, as well as mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. This is because yoga is a psychology, helping those who practice it work with the nature of the mind, how emotions live in the body, and how they affect behavior and the mind.

Here are some of the ways yoga benefits your mental health:

It helps build your sense of self

Yoga allows you to know yourself on a deeper level, letting you cultivate self-trust and a more positive body image. Your unconscious mind reminds you that you are worthy of the time and effort you devote to yourself, thus letting you build self-confidence and develop a healthy, balanced ego.
Yoga moves you from the sympathetic nervous system to the parasympathetic nervous system
Practicing yoga regularly takes you from a flight-or-fight mindset to a rest-and-digest one, because you are less anxious and more relaxed. This can be attributed to the deep breathing techniques incorporated with it, which calms your nervous system and lets you enter a state of relaxation that is conducive for meditation.

It makes you aware of your shadow qualities
The yoking of solar and lunar, or light and dark in yoga allows you to recognize qualities that you may not be aware of, thus promoting mindfulness. Places in your body where you hold tension, tightness, and knots of energy are typically where you store psychological or emotional energy. Amare Global says there are certain postures that can help release this energy, so you don’t just get rid of the physical pain, you also do away with the emotional baggage that comes with it.

Amare Global: Nutrients that boost mental health

Amare Global, also known as “The Mental Wellness Company” aims to lead the global mental wellness revolution through a holistic mental wellness platform that connects a purpose-driven community of passionate people. The company believes that what you eat directly affects your mood and your mental wellness. Making a few simple changes to your diet can have a positive impact on your mental health.
Recent research shows that there are specific nutrients that support healthy brain function and fight depression and mood disorders. These nutrients are present in a lot of supplements and foods. Here are some of them:
Vitamin C
Apart from preventing scurvy, vitamin C enables your body to use carbohydrates, fats, and proteins more efficiently. It is also essential in the creation of neurotransmitters, including dopamine, noradrenaline, and serotonin, which all stabilize your mood and help prevent depression. Citrus fruits, such as oranges and lemons, as well as strawberries, bell peppers, and broccoli are all high in vitamin C.
Vitamin B6
Antidepressants are meant to increase serotonin uptake, and recent studies have proven that B-vitamins can have a similar effect. For instance, vitamin B6 is effective in the treatment of premenstrual depression. It is also needed by the body to make mood-boosting neurotransmitters such as serotonin, norepinephrine, and melatonin. It is important to get enough of this vitamin, as a deficiency has been proven to lead to depression.
Carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, green peas, lentils and other legumes, and bananas are good sources of vitamin B6.
Zinc
Recent studies have shown that individuals with the worst symptoms of depression often have the lowest levels of zinc. Apart from depression, zinc deficiency can lead to ADHD, seizures, aggression, violence, and difficulties in learning, and low memory retention. On the other hand, zinc replenishment has been found effective in treating mood disorders. Amare Global recommends eating zinc-rich foods, including legumes, seeds, nuts, and whole grains.
The next time you feel down, fix yourself a healthy meal – you just might feel better.

Amare Global: What is the Gut-Brain Axis?

Founded "The Mental Wellness" in 2016, Amare Global spent the better part of 2017 designing a platform of nutraceutical products focused on modulation of the microbiome and optimization of the gut-brain axis (GBX) to improve many aspects of mental wellness. With a vision to lead the mental wellness revolution worldwide, Amare's mission is to create a holistic mental wellness platform that connects a purpose-driven community of passionate people. Our company's expertise includes mental wellness, the gut-brain axis, the gut microbiome, among others. But what is the gut-brain axis or GBX?

The gut-brain axis refers to the communication system between your gut and brain. Many of you probably already heard the phrase "go with your gut" whenever you are making a decision or the phrase "butterflies in the stomach" whenever you are feeling nervous. When these happen, you are likely getting signals from your "second brain." This second brain lies within the walls of your digestive system and is revolutionizing medicine's understanding of the links between your digestion, the way you think, your mood, and your overall health. Scientists call this second brain the enteric nervous system (ENS). Two thin layers of more than a hundred million nerve cells lining your gastrointestinal tract from the esophagus to rectum comprise the ENS.

The ENS plays a role in controlling digestion, from swallowing to the release of enzymes that break down food to the control of blood flow that helps with the absorption of nutrients to elimination. It may also trigger emotional shifts in people coping with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and functional bowel problems like constipation, diarrhea, bloating, upset, and aching stomach. Researchers in recent studies investigates pieces of evidence that irritation in the gastrointestinal system may send signals to the central nervous system, which triggers mood changes in an individual. Findings in recent studies explain why people with IBS and functional bowel issues with a higher-than-normal percentage develop depression and anxiety. Research also suggests that the activity of the digestive system may have effects on an individual's cognition too. Continue reading posts on our blog sites to know more about the gut-brain axis.

Amare Global on the Meaning of Self-Love and Ways to Love Yourself

Amare Global, known as “The Mental Wellness Company”, creates a holistic mental wellness platform that aims to connect a purpose-driven community of passionate people. We want to promote a powerful connection with others, most importantly self-love, as our company name “Amare” suggests, which is a Latin word that translates to “to love”. However, what does self-love mean?

Self-love requires us to be honest and acknowledge all our choices and thought patterns and make time for activities that encourages us to see our self-worth. It is so much more than just pampering yourself after an exhausting day or week. It is something that you practice daily. Self-love serves as the foundation on which we build a happy life.

Amare Global wants you to realize that self-love comes in different forms for different people. Continue reading to know some of the ways you can give love and be kind to love yourself:

Self-love requires us to choose ourselves; to make ourselves a priority, even if it means upsetting others. Loving ourselves means giving our bodies the nurturing, rest, exercise, and comfort it needs to the best of our abilities. It means building and living the life we love and loving the life we live. Self- love means wearing clothes that make us feel good about ourselves and fit our personality instead of wearing clothes that we use to impress others. Loving ourselves means loving ourselves as a whole person – accepting ourselves with both the good and the ugly. Self-love teaches us how to own both our inner and outer beauty without feeling conceited, guilty, arrogant, or entitled. It pushes us not to return to our past mistakes and drag ourselves into a dark place. Loving ourselves means following what our intuition says instead of letting our mind and ego take control. It is all about trusting the path our soul is taking and making a genuine effort to become a conscious and careful co-creator of our destiny.
